I showed them a range of ideas: a hand-lettered signature, a bad Italian Art Deco-ey one and one inspired by cafe signage of the early 20th century (that I ended up making an entire typeface for I got so into it).

This is the typeface I designed for one of the concepts. Someday, I might make it into a real font...

We agreed the hand drawn type was most appropriate, but liked the idea behind the cafe signage one. So I refined it a bunch and tied the two ideas together.

Thanks to Jay & Nate for the awesome project.
